They are supported by the participating schools' PTAs, and seating is limited to the docents who will be teaching the lesson in those schools. The rest of the squares (2x2 and 3x3) are sold (for $10 and $20) to kids, families, and anyone else who wants one, to do as they please--they can bring their own chalk or use the free chalk. There are also booths for vendors, live music and dancers, a silent auction, etc. Some of the folks who attend are just enjoying the art and shopping and eating, others are buying squares and chalking, and everyone has a good time.Penny L.
